Angus Young's Tartan Army

To commemorate the Homecoming of Angus and the boys to Hampden we’ve launched a new Tartan Army club in his honour! AC/DC are playing Hampden on 30th of June 2009 and we can’t wait to hear the first strains of Angus Young’s Tartan Army reverberating around the hallowed ground before they emerge onto the pitch.
We’ve created a new AYTAC blog for all Tartan Army AC/DC fans to share their experiences of the band’s visits to Scotland. We’ve sent Angus and the guys membership certificates and look forward to getting a response in the future!
We can but hope for another live recording and double album (vinyl please) and maybe just maybe an AC/DC with the Tartan Army Children in Need single to follow!! And for sure a rendition of Angus’ guitar solo version of Loch Lomond will stir the masses into a little sing song. How about an amped up version of Auld Lang Syne, Angus ma boy? Just in case it’s the last gig of the last tour? Even the thought raises the hairs on the back of the neck!

To mark our respect for the legend that is Angus Young we’ve produced in conjunction with Tartan Army.com a special Angus and The Tartan Army shirt featuring a specially commissioned piece of artwork on the front with Angus wearing his 1978 Umbro shirt while playing at The Apollo in Glasgow. The back features Angus Young and The Tartan Army; Live at Hampden, June 30th 2009 with some of The Tartan Army troopers on the terracing. £1 from every shirt will go to the Tartan Army Children’s Charity – this will be a limited edition so order yours now for delivery before the Iceland match.

What a way to celebrate both our national team and the phenomenal ACDC! I saw AC/DC many times in the 70's and 80's. Angus Young was my hero and how I remember him appearing as if from nowhere on the upper circle of the Glagow Apollo, the crowd would go even more electric as he wound us up into a frenzy. I also remember the minute we heard that Bon Scott had died in February 1980. I was waiting to be served in the canteen of Aberdeen College of Commerce(which was demolished a few years later). My friend and I didn't believe it and when reality set in we retired to the Moorings Bar to commemerate the great lead man with a cider and blackcurrant and the sounds of Whole Lotta Rosie on the juke box.
of course I went on to see the band many times with Brian Johnson but I always had a special place in my heart for Bon. Wish I could be at Hampden in June, wish I knew where my red leather biker jacket was and my white clogs... Rock on Angus..Scotland salutes you!!
Happy memories
