Tickets for Amsterdam...

We are delighted to confirm that the Scottish FA has secured 8,000 tickets for the FIFA World Cup Qualifying Match against the Netherlands on 28th March 2009.
This means that every Supporters Club member with at least one point will be eligible to apply for a ticket for the game at the Amsterdam ArenA.
The allocation of 8,000 tickets is 3,000 more than our entitlement under FIFA regulations, so a huge Scottish contingent will be there to cheer on George and the boys as we continue on the road to South Africa.
All Scotland Supporters Club members who have one point or more will be contacted by email or post with full details on how to apply. The booking period will run from Monday 19 January to Friday 13 February 2009 and tickets will cost 30 Euros (Approximately £28).
If any tickets remain unsold a ballot will take place. Details will be announced when the booking period has closed.

Columbia Records have confirmed that the mighty AC/DC will play a date next summer and the concert is expected to be a sell-out.

Norway Game A Week Earlier

The originally agreed date for the Norway v Scotland qualifying match was 19th August, 2009.
However, at UEFA’s request to FIFA, this date was changed to 12th August due to Champions League scheduling, despite repeated attempts by the Scottish FA to change the date of the match - preferably to October (after the SPL season has started) FIFA has ruled, after consultation with the Norwegians, that the game will go ahead on August 12.
Scottish FA Chief Executive, Gordon Smith said “We’re disappointed with the decision, but at least now the date has been clarified, Scotland supporters can finally make their travel arrangements.”

Well the single's been and gone and it stayed at Number Two in the Soottish charts for a fortnight only held off the top spot by The X Factor Heroes single. Well done and thanks for your support... Tartan Army Hampden Roar version is still available online at iTUnes.

Tartan Army Warnings Unheeded

Nice wee article in The Record about the poor turnout for the Argentina game which cost the SFA £800,000 to bring the South Americans to Glasgow with only 32,492 paying at the gate.
Alan Duncan, chairman of the North of Scotland fans group was quoted and he beleived that the match shouldn't have gone ahead, "What's the point in the SFA consulting the fans about whether to take this fixture and then completely ignoring our advice? How are the SFA going to recover these losses? They will probably try to increase the tickets prices at the next game. A couple of years ago we were being charged £23 for the same seat which on Wednesday cost us £30. Do they not know there is a credit crunch going on? I couldn't give the tickets away. I stood outside and offered them for half price and no one would take them."
Apparently it seems it's a wake up call to for the SFA whose chief executive Gordon Smith said: "I would have to say that I would need to think twice about bringing a nation such as Brazil here in the future."
It's not really a surprise to anyone surely that friendly matches do not light that fire? The thrust over the past three years has been the competitive atmosphere at Hampden because we've been competing with and beating the best in matches that matter. That's the buzz, thats what the Tartan Army want more of.
The question actually should be asked about how lucky the SFA were that Diego Maradona was appointed in time for this match - how many of the 32,492 were enticed through the gates because of the pre match publicity. What would the losses have been without that particular sideshow.
Brazil? Sounds great on paper but give me Iceland anytime!

Mr Maradona is, to date, proving to be as elusive to the presentation delegation as he clearly was to a certain Mr Butcher all those years ago and to date has evaded every high tackle we've challenged him with to accept his award.

However we do not give in easily and perhaps Terry could hand it to him on our behalf as he shakes hands at the end of the match...
